Everything you need to clean your car: 11 car cleaning products you didn’t know you needed

Cleaning the car is more than just pointing the hose to it and hoping for the best results. Of course there are buckets-you need two or even three-plus microfiber towels, brushes and suede cloth. And all this is done before we touch the cleaning products; shampoo, polish, wax, clay, snow foam, etc.
In this article, we will introduce you to all the products that make your car shine and refresh. Not every product is mandatory, but every product has its own unique purpose and helps inspire your pride and joy.
These products can be purchased separately, but are usually purchased together. The latter can save you money and usually includes a convenient bag to store everything, plus a few towels and a sponge. Each product can be replaced when it runs out.
Let’s start with the obvious; shampoo. This is your default cleaning product, used to remove dirt from paint and leave a charming luster. Leading car cleaning product companies such as Autoglym and G3 Pro sell a range of shampoo products. These are usually added in small amounts to a bucket of warm water, and then smeared on the car with a clean sponge.
If you have a hose or a high-pressure washer, please use it to remove as much dust and dirt from the car as possible before you get the shampoo and sponge.
At this point, you should use the two-bucket method, one of which contains warm water and shampoo, and the other is used to rinse the sponge. In this way, the sponge is clean every time it touches the car. The third bucket can also be used in particularly dirty areas, such as wheels.
Speaking of wheels, it can be helpful to use a wool brush to clean the hard-to-reach areas between the spokes.
If you have a pressure washer with the right accessories, you can pre-wash your car with snow foam before using the shampoo. The snow foam comes in a bottle and is sold by companies such as Turtle Wax. Follow the bottle’s instructions to mix with water, and then use a high-pressure washer to apply it to the car. Start from the roof and go all the way down, then apply a second layer to the dirty areas such as wheels. Let it stand for five minutes, then rinse with plenty of water, and then start using shampoo.
When it comes to car cleaning, drying is usually an overlooked stage, but it is a good way to prevent the natural drying of water from causing streak finishes. It is best to use oversized microfiber towels or suede, which are designed to draw water away from the surface with a rag.
Now that the car has been thoroughly cleaned and dried, it is time to start the details. This is a general term for more detailed cleaning of cars. Professional products are used on the body, wheels, tires, plastic trim, glass and interior to make every part look its best.
Clay bars may be a good starting point. These are designed to wipe paint, absorb dirt and remove contaminants from the surface, creating a smooth, shiny surface. Clay sticks should be used in accordance with their instructions, which usually require lubricants in the form of detailed sprays.
This bottled spray can be used to protect the paint surface of a car and give it a deep luster. Just spray it according to the instructions on the bottle and polish it. Ceramic spray is hydrophobic, which means it can repel water and cause rainwater to collect into beads on the surface and then run away. This helps to make the surface look cleaner and longer.
Waxing a car can take a long time (and cost a lot of money), but there are some shortcuts. Autoglym sells Rapid Aqua Wax, which can be sprayed on the surface of the car that is still wet after the car has been washed to form a shiny hard wax finish. First rub the wax onto the paint with a microfiber cloth, and then polish it up in one second. This wax can be applied to all exterior parts of the car, excluding the windshield.
It is possible to spend hundreds of pounds to buy a good car wax, but in most cases, this is not necessary. Real carnauba wax (which is what you want) starts at less than £20, and waxing a car is a simple but time-consuming process. Smear a small amount with a microfiber cloth, leave as instructed, and then polish it with another clean cloth.
Next, we will study products designed specifically for specific automotive components. This is used to restore the appearance of the black and unpainted plastic panels on the exterior of the vehicle. Spray and wipe the plastic with a clean microfiber cloth for best results.
You can use three products to enhance the appearance of wheels and tires. The first is the wheel cleaning spray, which can be applied and wiped with a microfiber cloth (you may have realized by now that you only need a small amount of these).
Next comes the tires, which can be updated through tire trimming. All major car cleaning and detail companies sell this product, you just need to spray and dry it. After drying, the tire will turn into a beautiful, shiny black. Finally, apply wheel protector. This is usually an aerosol, which can be sprayed in large quantities on the wheels and dried.
Finally, you can use glass cleaner on windshields, windows, lights, and mirrors. Just like the windows of your home, this will remove dirt, water and streaks and make your glass look as bright as new.
We admit that it may take a long time to use all the above products, but the effect should be long-lasting and can be easily supplemented with detail spray. These are sold by several car cleaning companies and are very simple to use. Just spray it in a small amount, apply it to the paint with a cloth, and then polish until shiny. These can generally be used on all exterior surfaces, including plastics, and will not remove or affect any polishes, waxes, or sealants that have been used.
